2014 found me doing one of the smartest things I could have done for myself with riding & racing dirtbikes. I bought my first KTM 350EXC-F. The next ~3 years I clocked on around 200+ hours and 6000+ miles on that bike. That’s when the 2T 3.5 year itch struck. I foolishly convinced myself that I MUST get aboard a 2T dirtbike, cause according to the internets, the ONLY fun bike, the ONLY Enduro bike, the ONLY GNAR bike is one that’s a 2T.
However, I am meandering far from the point. I relayed to my better half that I was considering selling the 350. She suggested to me that given that I really like the thing, MAYBE I should keep it and just enjoy it. No no no, I’m pretty sure that me being the rider of the thing knows best. (insert sensible chuckle here). So I did like any sensible person did and pushed hard on the Craigslist (pre-5$ fees here….no FBM for me), and on the ADV Nets and what have you. Sure enough, someone bought that thing……..and that’s when the regerts unknowingly began.
Not too long after selling the 350, I found myself acquiring a bike that I’d immediately hate…..but still try to make do. I went from top shelf KTM to a GPX TSE250R, which I was oversold and under-delivered, and much like eating out on Chinese food, I was left hungry for something more very soon after my first ride on the L32 White Rice. Nevermind the fact that I wasn’t gelling with the bike and would have to deal with selling a Chinese brand Husqvarna knockoff…I knew the next thing to come was to admit to my wife that she was right.
While admitting to my wife that she was right about my bike choice was mildly painful, I am thankful she is understanding, which is why all things were made right in the universe by picking up another KTM 350EXC-F. Nearly 3000 miles on the thing in less than a year, and I couldn’t be happier.
