Morning Thought 0001 – Same is same, but named otherwise.

I am not a scientist, nor do I pretend to be one. I am not a medical professional, and I do not pretend to be one. I am not an epidemiologist, and again, I do not pretend to be one. Despite all this, no one needs to be one to ask the simple question. Why are we referring to the Covid shot as a Vaccine?

Websters defines Vaccine as follows:
vaccine noun
vac·cine | \ vak-ˈsēn  , ˈvak-ˌsēn \
Definition of vaccine
a preparation of killed microorganisms, living attenuated organisms, or living fully virulent organisms that is administered to produce or artificially increase immunity to a particular disease

The bit that has me scratching my head is at the end of the definition “produce or artificially increase immunity”. Immunity as defined by Websters:
immunity noun
 im·mu·ni·ty | \ i-ˈmyü-nə-tē  \plural immunities
Definition of immunity
the quality or state of being immune especiallya condition of being able to resist a particular disease especially through preventing development of a pathogenic microorganism or by counteracting the effects of its products

Based on this definition, immunity to something means you are resistant to it affecting you. Unfortunately everything I’ve found with regards to the Corona Shot is that you can still contract it AND transmit it to others. The shot MAY however make reduce the severity of symptoms if you do contract Corona.

Don’t believe me? Show me where on any of the following widely accepted sources that say the shot will make you resistant to contracting\transmitting Corona:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/faq.html
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/coronavirus/in-depth/coronavirus-vaccine/art-20484859

I understand that the word Immunity is being used to note that your body might become more resistant to more severe side effects of Corona. That noted, eating properly, exercising regularly, getting regular sleep, abstaining from alcohol, sugars, and other things are all going to help your bodies natural immune system. A healthy immune system will also potentially reduce your severity of symptoms of just about anything you may catch.

So I just ask the simple questions. Why are we not referring to this as a Shot (as we do the yearly Flu Shot), and instead a Vaccine? Subsequently, why are we allowing ourselves to believe that this shot is going to magically save all of humanity?

This makes so much sense at a time in our country when many people are not questioning things that do not make sense. I’m not sure who or what is blinding so many?
